In natural environments there are various systems possible for soil management. But especially in urban areas, like cities, there is very little natural soil and as well less space. The Biochar gardens are highly suitable in small spaces, because of the inherent property of biochar compost, to sustain more plants per sq area. The fertility of the biochar compost is also very high to sustain higher density of plants. The space is another major constraint for keeping the plants, as well the weight of the soil. The biochar compost being less denser does not cause much impact on the structures. The water retention capacity of the biochar compost makes it deals for conserving water the precious water in urban areas. All the roof tops and vertical spaces in urban areas are suitable for aoption of biochar compost. At our house we have grown different types of vegetables (tomatoes), leguminous creepers (beans), chilies, greens etc. successfully.
